Images Without a Background?

I am often asked how I find and use images that have no background. Those images are called vector graphics, and they have a transparent background. In order to find images that have the transparent background, you should try using the word "vector" in your search. For example if you were searching for an image of a "basketball" in Google images tons of hits would appear. Then if you do a search for "vector basketball" you are now narrowing your search making it more likely to find an image with a transparent background. So you found an image you like, how do you tell if if has not background. Once you click on an image and see a checkerboard like background that means it has been exported with a transparent background. If you are making your graphics from scratch using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, simply export the graphics as a .png to get a transparent background. If you are not going to make a graphic yourself, and you also found a free graphic online that you would like to remove the background to there is still hope. Check out http://www196.lunapic.com/editor/?action=load .This website allows you to make backgrounds transparent, but keep in mind this is for solid backgrounds since you will be clicking on a single color to remove. Simply upload your image, then click 'edit' and then 'transparet'.
